About Us
Committed to Creating a Positive Impact
Wild Hive & Co. began with a simple belief: nature knows best. We are passionate beekeepers dedicated to producing the highest quality honey while supporting the natural behaviour of Zambia’s wild bees. Founded in 2020, we have rapidly grown into a community-driven company committed to sustainability, quality, and empowerment.
Our mission is to provide pure, raw honey directly from our hives to your table while supporting sustainable development and environmental conservation. We are dedicated to sustainable beekeeping practices that promote the health of our bees, the environment and our community.
Supporting Our Community
Empowering Beekeepers
We work closely with 4,000 small-scale beekeepers in remote areas, providing them with the resources and training needed to practice sustainable beekeeping. This collaboration not only supports local economies but also transitions from traditional to sustainable beekeeping methods.
Operations & Management
With over 35,000 beehives under our management, we are one of the largest beekeeping operations in the region. Our beekeeping activities are centered in Zambia, where we are dedicated to protecting the Miombo forest, a vital ecosystem home to diverse wildlife and plant species.
Environmental Stewardship
Our commitment to environmental stewardship goes beyond beekeeping. By protecting the Miombo forest, we are helping to combat deforestation and promote biodiversity. We believe that preserving natural habitats is essential for the health of our planet and future generations.
Education and Advocacy
We believe in the power of education. Through workshops and resources, we aim to teach others about the importance of bees, sustainable practices, and environmental conservation. Our goal is to inspire a global community to take action in protecting our natural world.
Creating Economic Opportunities
Our operations directly and indirectly benefit around 25,000 individuals by providing additional income and improved livelihoods. By integrating beekeeping into their daily lives, families gain financial stability.
Supporting Women-Led Initiatives
We are committed to fostering gender equality by supporting women-led micro-businesses, such as tree nurseries and community-managed beekeeping projects. By providing the necessary training, guidance, and equipment, we help women become successful entrepreneurs.
Building Long-Term Partnerships
Collaboration is key to our success. We build lasting partnerships with local businesses, farms, and cooperatives to create a network of support that benefits the entire community. These partnerships help us deliver long-term transformational change.
Protecting Our Natural World
Sustainable Beekeeping Practices
At Wild Hive & Co., we prioritise sustainable beekeeping to ensure the long-term health of our bee colonies and the environment. Our practices include avoiding chemicals, supporting natural foraging behaviours, and maintaining diverse habitats. By following these principles, we help preserve the delicate balance of our ecosystems.
Protecting the Miombo Forest
Our beekeeping operations are centred in Zambia, where we are dedicated to protecting the Miombo forest. This vital ecosystem is home to diverse wildlife and plant species, and our efforts help combat deforestation and promote biodiversity. By safeguarding these forests, we contribute to the health of the planet and future generations.
Collaborating with WeForest
We closely work with WeForest, a non-profit organization empowering local communities to conserve nature. WeForest focuses on preserving threatened and degraded tropical forests and landscapes through locally-led reforestation projects. These initiatives include planting native species, restoring degraded forests, and creating forest-friendly alternative income programs such as sustainable agriculture and beekeeping.
Supporting Biodiversity
By enhancing natural habitats, we help ensure that bees and other pollinators have access to the resources they need to thrive.
Education and Advocacy
Education is a cornerstone of our mission. We offer workshops and resources to teach others about the importance of bees, sustainable practices, and environmental conservation. Through these efforts, we aim to inspire a global community to take action in protecting our natural world.
Eco-Friendly Packaging
Our commitment to the environment extends to our packaging. We use recyclable materials and encourage our customers to reuse or recycle our jars and containers. This reduces waste and minimises our carbon footprint.
